She has a penchant for finding trouble, but can she find love

Mostly I read eBooks or listen to audiobooks but sometimes I like to hold a physical book, so when I realized Finding Trouble, the paperback, includes Lou’s Discovery, it was a done deal for me. May has been a rainy month and I love to snuggle under a blanket on the couch with a book, a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and some M&Ms.

Finding Trouble is the second novella in The Quinn Quartet but when you buy the paperback, you get Lou’s Discovery (the Quinn Quartet 1.5), which is a prequel to this book. While not necessary to read to understand Finding Trouble or the overall story arc, it gives more insight into Lou’s personality and I enjoyed him more for it.

The Quinn Quartet is a four-book series, with a story arc that spreads over all the books, but each book contains a HEA for the main characters. While I’m not a huge fan of cliffhangers, I do enjoy returning to the Quinn farm and getting updates on the characters that have become dear to me. So, while we have the four siblings, who each get a novella to tell their story, there are also Healing Jacob’s Heart and Lou’s Discovery. These books aren’t necessary to read for the overall story but I highly recommend them because they give great insight into character development and world build. So to keep the facts straight, these are the previous stories: 0.5 Healing Jacob’s Heart is a prequel to the entire series and features Jacob Quinn and Hester Belmont back in 1969. 1.0 Delving Deep is the first novel and set in 2012. The main characters are the oldest Quinn son, Ross, and reporter Delilah Rose. 1.5 Lou’s Discovery, a book set at the end of the 20th century, showing how Lou Davis became the man he is today. Now to Finding Trouble (the Quinn Quartet #2): First, this is an interracial relationship and contains BDSM role play — specifically age play — and it might not be your kind of book. Personally, I enjoyed how the romance between Madeline and Lou blossomed and the stubborn but respectful way Lou pursued Maddy. I also liked that Madeline didn’t wait for her older brothers to fall in love but ‘skipped ahead’ 😂. As I’ve come to expect from Karen Nappa her hero and heroine are seasoned and react and act mature (well, unless of course Maddy is letting her inner child loose but that’s a given). Meanwhile, the ongoing mystery Delilah (from Delving Deep) is trying to uncover is dragging Madeline’s friend Sapphira into Peaceful, which leads to the next installment in the Quinn Quartet. That book should hit the shelves before the summer of 2021, so whether on a tropical beach or in my own backyard — I know what I’ll be reading 😃.
