Review Lou's Discovery by Karen Nappa

You might know Karen Nappa from the Club Indigo Series. If not, I highly recommend to check out this series! But did you know Karen Nappa has a new series called The Quinn Quartet?

This trailer is a great teaser :) It starts with a short prequel in 1969 and then moves to more recent times. Anyhow, to give us more background to the hero in book two - which is due to be ready soon, they've promised - they wrote a short story about Lou Davis. As we get to know his journey to the man he has become today - a man strong enough to keep Madeline Quinn in check.

When two burly dungeon monitors helped the Mistress lower her submissive to the floor, and she cuddled the man on her lap, stroking his sweat-streaked hair and murmuring words of endearment, Lou sauntered away. Although not any more into female domination than into male submission, the performance taught him a thing or two about sensation play and the power of the helplessness the blindfold and bindings added to the scene. What touched him highly, though, had been the affectionate way the Mistress took care of her submissive after the scene and the sheer devotion in his eyes. Lou halted at the strangest scene he'd seen thus far. A Mistress dressed in formal riding gear had strapped a pony to a wooden post and was grooming it. Lou blinked, and it took him a few moments to realize the pony was actually a person. He or she was wearing a very realistic horse head as a mask, and hands and feet were covered in artificial hooves.

Although the pony didn't really appeal to him, the way the Mistress treated it stirred something inside. Lou watched as she loosened the reins from the post and led the pony from the stable.

"Zeit für Training, Prinzessin."

The German word for princess stabbed something inside his chest. Madeline possessed a horse with that exact name — a real horse, of course. Lou forced himself not to think about Maddy but turned his attention back to the Mistress and her mare.

For nearly half an hour, the Mistress led her pony through several exercises and poses — head tossing, tail swishing, and lifting hooves for inspection – designed to demonstrate the pony’s range and reinforce her submissive identity. Lou enjoyed how the Mistress guided the submissive through her paces. Although she held a crop, she barely used it, but with soft words, firm touches, and multiple repetitions the pony adjusted, and its mannerism became increasingly natural. When they finally started walking, she had the exaggerated head bobbing, and the tail swish mastered.

"Entschuldigung, mein Herr." The Mistress addressed him in German.

Surprised, Lou lifted his head at the Mistress and answered in the same language. "Mein Deutsch ist nicht gut. Do you speak English?"

"Amerikaner?" Her eyes widened in surprise, and she answered him slowly, "I do speak English, yes."

The pony shook its head and scraped a hoof on the floor. The Mistress made a disapproving sound and tugged the reigns. "Benimm dich!" she admonished the pony before she turned back to Lou. "I noticed you watching. Would you like to assist me with my Prinzessin?"

Lou blinked. "Eh, sure — what can I do?"

"She hasn't been zum Tierartz lately. Help me hold her in place for the medical exam, please."

The pony let out a wail of distress, which was not exactly pony-like when it heard the German word for a veterinarian, and Lou suspected it was the exact reason the Mistress had used the term in their native tongue.

"I'd be delighted." Curious, he took a step forward. "What can I do?"

"First, we must bind her. We don't want to have any accidents with her big hooves."

Lou followed the Mistress as she let her pony back to the stable, and they both used ropes to bind fore and hind legs. By the time they had the pony securely tethered, Lou was thoroughly aroused. The way the Mistress kept watching her sub and caressing and reassuring — without ever faltering at her intent — was heady.

While Tom teased Faduma by rolling a Wartenberg pinwheel over her stomach and breasts, Lou carefully pressed the large and well-lubed object inside her anus in small increments.

Review

Lou's Discovery is a journey of a young man learning the ropes and learning about himself. Through his journey we - the reader - learn something about various BDSM practices.

Although Karen Nappa clearly states in their disclaimer the book is (romantic) fiction and not a how-to book on BDSM, I enjoy the facets of the lifestyle shown in their stories.

I'm truly a sucker for HEA, so the warning in the blurb this is a HFN and Lou will find his (well deserved) happy ending in the next installment of The Quinn Quartet is appreciated.

I loved to meet a young Captain Connor and learn more about the incident that formed this imposing (scary) man, we met earlier in Trusted.
