Did you know The Netherlands has its own Dickens Festival? It's held in the Middle Age's center of Deventer. Although I haven't been to the event for probably ten years or so, I love the atmosphere and the magic of these stories coming alive. Which leads me to Karen Nappa's A Mistress for Christmas. A retelling of Charles Dickens' famous A Christmas Carol with a kinky twist
A leap? Hell, yes. But let's start with my review.

To Ezra Stone, Christmas is just another day, but after this year, the holiday is never going to be the same again
Ezra is a successful businessman and cutthroat negotiator. He also has a secret craving he's desperate to hide. When he discovers his long-term business partner is part of an exclusive BDSM community, he is excited initially but then appalled.
Lynn Edwards joined Club Indigo a couple of years ago and is a well-versed Dominatrix. It took her almost a decade to come to terms with who she is, and she's finally ready to open herself up for more.
She came to terms with who she is. Can he do the same, and — more important — can he accept himself?
A Mistress for Christmas is a retelling of Charles Dickens' famous A Christmas Carol — Club Indigo style, and it contains elements of dominance and submission and explicit language.

Rated steamy Excerpt
"I love how you react to my touch." Her hands wandered from his shoulders, over his back, to squeeze his butt and pulled the cheeks apart. When she ran a finger between the crease and applied pressure to the cotton over his back hole, he stiffened. As much as he loved the feeling of a finger in his ass when Annabel sucked his cock, he also hated it.
"Anal virgin?"
He shook his head. "Not really. I did a little bit of anal play, but I don't like it very much."
"Why is that?" She kept stroking but didn't press in any further.
He breathed a little easier and remembered she'd asked him a question. "It feels wrong, dirty, and humiliating."
She hummed and used the other hand to stroke the sensitive crease between buttocks and legs, less than an inch below his briefs. "True, but that's not all."
He sighed. "No, it isn't. I like the sensation, and I never came harder than with a mouth around my cock and a finger in my ass."
She pressed a kiss to his shoulder. "Thank you for your honesty."
When she pulled her finger from between his cheeks, he expected the first slap, but the noise it made still startled him, and he let out a cry of surprise.
Author Bio
Karen Nappa writes Seasoned BDSM Romance with HEA. Their growing library including TRAPPED (a D/s story), and CHERISHED (an age play story). Now, they’ve embarked on a completely new adventure in the Appalachian hills of Ohio – THE QUINN QUARTET.
Immersed in the D/s lifestyle themselves, they write realistic albeit romantic stories. When not dominated by their cats or their Master (in that order – even if it earns them a spanking!), they love going to Club Indigo and other places to discover the stories that are waiting to be written.
When not texting, skyping or writing together the American half likes to spin yarn and make quilts, while the Dutch "partner in crime" prefers to go for a run while listening to heavy metal.
April 11th, 2019 will be a date they will always remember. Not only was it the day their debut Trapped (Club Indigo 1) was released, it also was the day that the two halves of Karen Nappa met in person.

My Review
A Mistress for Christmas delivers what the label says and so much more. If you have read previous books, you'll know Karen Nappa doesn't shy away from controversial topics and her main characters are diverse. With this book we not only have an older submissive gentleman but also a transgender main character. To combine both and to use a famous story to do so is balsy.
Although Nappa follows the old Christmas Carol and the theme isn't violated in any way, they also succeed in making the reader fall in love with the controversial main characters is a feat on its own.
A Mistress for Christmas might be a short story, but it didn't leave me wanting. Only for more Club Indigo books.
Christmas is never going to be the same again!
